Apprentice Spotlight: Chloe’s first month at One2create

Chloe started with One2create in the middle of June and since then she’s been knee-deep in social media marketing campaigns, client accounts and content creation. Since her first day, we’ve really thrown her straight into it because we knew she had the skills and the knowledge to do great. This month we wanted to let her have her own say about what her first month has been like at One2create and why she chose an apprenticeship.

  1. Why did you choose an apprenticeship over a University course?

I just really felt like University wasn’t for me. And I wanted to get into work and experience it, instead of being at university learning but not working in the industry I wanted to be in.

  1. What made you choose your current apprenticeship?

I choose this apprenticeship because I wanted to learn, work and earn money, and experience a real life job!!

I know people that have gone on to University and they’ve never found the job they wanted, so I just thought it would be a good way to get ahead, especially now I’ve found that this industry is something that I want to work in for a while.

  1. What’s it like working at One2create?

Working at One2Create is great! I have been working non-stop since I started and there is always stuff to be done. I like the creative side of O2C and how we create amazing ideas from small starting points. Recently, I’ve been in a lot of social media and marketing campaign meetings, and that’s really helped me get to grips with how different clients work, the different sides of marketing and so much other stuff.

  1. How do you think your apprenticeship is going to help your career in the future?

Mainly I think it will help because it has and will give me so much experience of working in a real environment. You get to find out and experience all the extra points and lessons that you may not get at university.

At the same time, it gives me a chance to learn new skills, develop my confidence so that I’m able to approach more subjects in the future, but still work with a team who’re really good at bouncing ideas off each other.

  1. What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship at One2create?

My favourite thing about working at One2create is learning all the skills that a month ago I never had but everyday I am working on them to get better and better. I also really enjoy making the rich media for the different client accounts, because it means I get to learn about a lot of different industries in a short space of time.

  1. What are the main skills that you’ve learnt since your apprenticeship started?

So far I have learnt how to manage my time properly in order to get everything done, I am always working to deadlines so it motivates me to get stuff done.

I have learnt lots of Photoshop and editing skills, so I can create good content. There is a lot of software that before I had never heard of, so I’ve been learning how to use those.

I also think learning how to communicate with clients is something I’ve learnt about as some may not initially like want you create or they may have some changes of what you’ve done. So being able to communicate with them in the right way is really important.

  1. What advice would you give someone that’s thinking about taking on an apprenticeship role?

100% throw yourself into it! Ask lots of questions because that’s how you learn everything you need. Work hard and show your passion for what you are doing and it will be great!

So there we have, Chloe’s thoughts on her first month at One2create and why she’s chosen to take this route instead of University. If you’re interested in reading more about how One2create has helped develop new talent, then why not take a look at these articles from Beccy, Harry and Ray wrote for National Apprenticeship Week.

They’ve all completed their training now, and are full members of the One2create team.

At the same time, we asked Meg, another of our social media apprentices to share her thoughts. She’s been with us for a little longer than Chloe, and you can read her article in full here.
