How to Create Content Guaranteed to Engage

Marketing your business online is a great way to increase sales. There are loads of avenues to explore in the digital marketing world and the majority of them are free, so why not take full advantage!?


Content marketing is quickly becoming one of the most important ways to stand out online. This isn’t just your website copy or blog posts but also press releases and social media activity.


There is A LOT of content churned out online every minute, half of it is actually extremely valuable and the other half… definitely isn’t. Aside from this, it’s still important to keep yours fresh and consistent.


Here are my top things to think about when creating a content strategy.




When a user lands on your website, they will make a decision as to whether they are going to stay or not in just 10 seconds. You want to snap them up and keep them engaged right from the start. Your website or blog needs to give the user a reason to stay instantly.




Consider the questions your reader is likely to ask in their heads and give them the answers they need. Think about what you do when you read and take into consideration your thought process when you browse online. Online users are goal orientated and want factually correct information quickly, and easily. Don’t distract them with irrelevant content.




If the content you post online is quite formal, this may scare a user away. Instead, use a conversational tone that makes sense to them and doesn’t make them feel uncomfortable and want to leave. Your tone can still be professional as well as informal!




Having interaction with your readers and followers is very important. Engaging with your audience, particularly on social media, assists with Search Engine Optimisation, adds personality to your brand or business and can be insightful for you to establish what your readers are interested in. With blogs and articles, ask questions to encourage interaction via a comments box, or request them to give you feedback via social media.




Always try and share other people’s content on your social platforms. If someone has posted something interesting, funny, or factual that you feel your followers would appreciate it, retweet it or click the share button. This is a big part of social media, and sharing content is a great way to engage with the community, so embrace it!
