There has been quite a bit of chatter in the SEO community about an algorithm update. People started reporting the signs on 23rd of January and based on the length of time since the last big one, we all braced for impact.
I’m happy to report that the storm didn’t come after all! We have seen some minor shifts in both directions across the board, which are now settling down and there are many reports within the SEO community of similar activity. It’s fair to say that whilst there hasn’t been a major algo update, there has been some kind of refresh going on.
This could very well be a sign of things to come and it’s very likely that this year will see faster algorithm update cycles. Google itself has said that this would be the case. They also indicated that they will not always announce these updates and that official confirmation will depend on how big the update is.
As usual we will keep our eye on things and report them as and when they happen.
