O2C Keep It Clean, our clean-up initiative has launched

This month, One2create has joined the fight against plastic and waste by launching a new initiative: O2C Keep It Clean. The aim of which is to clear up the beaches and public open spaces around our local area. As a business we are passionate about the environment, so have offered staff regular paid time out of the office to help make a difference. All the while, making sure our service levels and projects stay on track! (Captain Planet would be impressed!)

The scheme began on August 31st, with some of our team making their way down to the beach at Warsash, Hampshire, and will continue every six weeks in various nearby settings, for the foreseeable future. Shout out to the rest of the team who held the fort back at the office!

Thankfully for our first outing the sun was shining, so armed with litter pickers and rubbish bags supplied by Fareham Borough Council, we set off to make the beach a cleaner, more environmentally friendly place to be.

We decided to launch O2C Keep It Clean because of our continued mission to reduce plastic and waste in our rivers and oceans. David Harris, Founder and Managing Director of One2create, explained that: “Ever since the Blue Planet documentary, we’ve really focused on trying to minimise the amount of waste that’s generated throughout our business.

“We want to make sure that it’s not just our generations that benefit from clean living, it’s generations to come. We love visiting beaches and forests, and it’s such a shame to see the amount of rubbish that’s left behind. Whether it’s intentional littering or not, it’ll still work its way into the environment.”

Throughout the afternoon, the team collected five full rubbish bags of litter, including flip flops, dummies, copious amounts of plastic waste, food wrappers and much more.

During our trip, it was really encouraging to see the number of people that stopped and talked to us, some saying that they’d like to join in next time, but most saying thank you for our work. We weren’t doing it for praise (much), but it did give us a warm, fuzzy feeling that people appreciated it.

Not only did it give us a chance to reduce the amount of waste in our local area, it gave us a chance to stretch our legs and enjoy the great British seasside. As we mentioned, we’ll be carrying out our next clear up in the next six weeks, so make sure you keep an eye out for our updates on social media if you’d like to join in.

But for now, here’s a collection of pictures from the day.

So there we have it, the new O2C Keep It Clean initiative, we hope that this has given you some inspiration to launch your own clean up operations. Like the logo says, it’s not our rubbish, but it’s our community.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d be interested in joining the next clear up, or if you want to reach out to feature our work, then email us or call the studio on 01489 232312.
