If you’re wondering why you need to switch to an Instagram business profile, look no further. We’ll explain all the benefits and how to switch.
Benefits
There are some great perks to switching your Instagram to a business account. The main one being, you can always switch back if you decide it’s not for you!
If you want to see how the business account looks in practice, visit our Instagram profile.
Businesses can now provide contact information, allowing their audience to call, email or find your location.
A huge bonus is the ability to access analytics (Insights in Instagram) for your account. They allow you to have an overview of the impressions, reach and engagement for all your posts with the option to define the length of time you see from 1 week to 2 years.
Another way to access Insights is by selecting an individual post and choosing the option to view Insights.
Now you know the reasons why you should have a business account, we’ll show you how to switch!
Instagram was slowly rolling out the feature to different accounts so some people weren’t able to access it at the same time as others.
Now everyone should have access but if you can’t see the option, make sure your app is updated to the latest version and try again.
Make sure you have a Facebook business page for the company you’re adding; you’ll need to connect your Instagram account to it.
Tap the Options icon in the top right corner of your screen.
You’ll then see an option called “Switch to Business Profile” click on this and follow the instructions to connect your Facebook.
Analytics
Unfortunately, Instagram will only show you Insights for images that are posted after you’ve switched to a business profile.
You can view your Insights by tapping the graph icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
This takes you through to an overview of the content you’ve posted, including impressions, top posts and followers. On each of these sections you can tap see more to see a more in-depth report of your impressions, engagements, reach, likes or comments for each post.
You are also able to get a better view of your follower demographics by tapping see more in the follower section.
Advertising
You can easily create ads on your mobile device on Instagram. When you select an image on your profile, there is an option to promote the post.
You can then decide the target for the post, do you want people to visit your website or visit your business?
Once you select an option, you can define the audience you want to target. To save time, Instagram can generate an audience for you, or you can define your own.
You can also select what call to action you’d like to use.
The next step is to set a budget for your campaign. Instagram will show how much reach is expected from your chosen budget, giving you a better idea of the results. All that’s left is to set the length of your campaign and you’re done!
Switching your account will allow you to see what content is working best for your audience and will help inform your decision of the content you create in the future.
This helps with the changes Instagram made to its algorithm, meaning you need to create even better content as your posts won’t be the visible at the top of the feed when they’re posted.
